ENKO was designed as my final Bachelor project, finished in December 2018. In this project I am working with the claim that modern lamps often are designed without focus on the actual quality and functionality of the light. Investigating whether lamps today, are designed to be a decorative item more than a useful object. Also, if the consumer looks more for the aesthetics than the light function they need when buying new lighting. Through research and interviews I’ve discovered the claim to be partially true. People do look more into the aesthetics when buying new lighting, and there is a growing number of lamps with only the function of mood lighting. All this lead to the design of a lamp with more than one lighting function. Maintaining a sculptural and relevant design aesthetic and ensuring high end light quality.
